Long-time Chamber member Parents Forum has been accepted into Gannett Foundation’s four-week challenge ‘A Community Thrives’. With ‘A Lifeline for Parents, an Anchor for Communities’ bit.ly/2ZSplSt the program seeks to create chapters in ten communities across the country, modeled on the one in Youngstown, Ohio. With successful crowdfunding, a key aspect of the Gannett challenge, Parents Forum also intends to establish an administrative structure to assure the program’s long-term sustainability.
After only one week, the program has raised over $1500, well on its way to meeting the $3K minimum by October 16th to be considered for a major national grant from Gannett Foundation, possibly as much as $100K.
“Joining the Chamber was one of the first business decisions I made after founding Parents Forum in 1992, and one of the best,” founder Eve Sullivan says, “and I will be very grateful to fellow Chamber members who can support us in this big break’!”
Parents Forum is offering open online meetings to discuss various current topics in a context of parent peer support. These are on Zoom, at 11am ET, usually the first Saturday of each month Next meeting will be October 3. Request the meeting link by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
