Tutoring Plus of Cambridge is a local nonprofit that provides free tutoring, mentoring and enrichment programs for Cambridge students and focuses on closing the opportunity gap within our community. Tutoring Plus has been a part of the Cambridge community for over 20 years and a member of the Chamber for 13.

What is the history of your business?
We were founded in 1964 by a group of neighborhood mothers who partnered with a student group at MIT. What began as tutoring sessions at kitchen tables over 50 years ago has grown to a center-based model that supports over 200 students and 200 volunteers each year.

What is your favorite part of doing business in Cambridge?
Cambridge has so much going on - we feel like we are always learning about a new business or new program that benefits our shared community!

What piece of advice would you give other business owners?
Get involved in the community. A rising tide lifts all boats!

What new or exciting things are happening with your business?
We are building exciting new partnerships around our coding and gender-specific programs to help make them stronger and more sustainable and we were recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation to support our program expansion!
