The City Council did not meet this week.
Election 2005 The Chamber co-sponsored a candidates night last Wednesday. This focus of this event was energy and environmental issues. All candidates voiced support for using energy efficiently and improving the environment.
US Chamber of Commerce Conference On Thursday and Friday of last week I attended the US Chamber of Commerce Eastern Region Government Affairs Conference in Boston. Sessions covered health care, corporate communications, trade policy, tourism, transportation, energy, and measuring the performance of a public affairs program. Much of the sessions focused on national issues and the U.S. Chamber’s legislative successes.
The conference brought government and public affairs staff from Chambers throughout the east coast together to discuss how best to serve Chamber members. As a local Chamber largely focused on local issues most of what I learned will be useful in looking at how the Cambridge Chamber communicates and organizes members on issues of importance to the Cambridge business community. I will be looking into tools the U.S. Chamber offers to that may provide benefits to Cambridge Chamber of Commerce members.
