September 19 2005 City Council Meeting
The City Council voted to refile the Concord-Alewife zoning petition at this meeting.
Concord-Alewife Zoning
The Concord-Alewife Zoning petition was due to expire September 21. The Council voted to re-file the petition, restarting the clock for discussion and enactment of changes to the zoning in that area. A study group that includes City staff, residents and property owners has been looking at this area for more than two years. For more information on the Concord-Alewife Study go to http://www.cambridgema.gov/~CDD/cp/zng/concalew/index.html.
Cambridge Excitement Lab
The Council passed an order asking the City Manager to instruct the Arts Council to assist the Economic Development, Training and Employment and the Neighborhood and Long Term Planning Committee in planning a meeting with local promoters, business associations, and other stakeholders regarding the future of Destination Cambridge and the working concept of Cambridge’s “Excitement Lab” and joint funding endeavors. This meeting would continue work that began in preparation for the Democratic National Convention last year. This year this effort has included a salsa concert held in Kendall Square in August and the Central Square Worlds’ Fair held Sunday, September 25.
