September 5, 2007 GAC Update
Robert Winters reports on his website (www.rwinters.com) that David Maher was officially elected to fill the seat on the Council vacated by Michael Sullivan. The Election Commission met this morning to recount ballots from the last election. Welcome back David.
The Planning Board met yesterday regarding a City Council petition to amend the Zoning Ordinance to add a Green Building Requirement. The GAC met last week to discuss this proposal.
The full City Council meets next Monday, September 10.
Attorney General Martha Coakley will address an October GAC/Executive Speaker luncheon on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
The Chamber’s Real Estate Round Table series features a presentation by Robert P. Reardon, Director of Assessment, City of Cambridge, on Wednesday August 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. This is timely as the City Council will meet to discuss the tax classification the following Monday. September 4, 2007 Planning Board Meeting
The Planning Board met on September 4 regarding a City Council petition to amend the Zoning Ordinance to add a Green Building Requirement. The Board discussed the proposal and identified a number of concerns. Terrence Smith, the Chamber’s Director of Government Affairs, expressed the Chamber’s support for environmental and energy efficient projects as well as concerns about the proposal before the Board. The Board voted to recommend to the City Council that a Task Force be established to discuss the issues raised by the petition and by Planning Board members and others at the hearing. The Ordinance Committee will meet at 5 on September 19 in City Hall to discuss this proposal.
