    Tell us about your business:
The mission of Friends of CRLS, now celebrating its 10th year, is to create and provide academic resources in the form of scholarships, travel funding for school-authorized trips, faculty innovation grants, the Unsung Heroes leadership program, and faculty distinction awards. FoCRLS is a 501c3 non-profit. We are located within CRLS, Cambridge's only public high school of over 1900 students.

How long have you been a member of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce?
    6-10 years

How long have you been a part of the Cambridge business community?
    10 years

What is the history of your business?
We were founded in 2006 by two CRLS parents whose vision was to engage the whole of the Cambridge community in supporting the success of our public high school students, and to offer opportunities not available in this district, or any public school district budget.

What is your favorite part of doing business in Cambridge?
Meeting a diverse range of people, from small independent business owners, to corporate leaders - to listen and learn from them, what matters to them, what advice they have for us, and to tell them the story of our high school and Friends of CRLS.

What piece of advice would you give other business owners?
I'd say that if you truly care about your business, your sustainability, and the Cambridge in which you've chosen to locate, your business and Cambridge itself will prosper and retain its uniqueness, its values by engaging with and supporting the students at CRLS. And they will repay us all by seeing Cambridge as that place that supported them, and that they can come back to as self-sustaining home owners with meaningful jobs.

What new or exciting things are happening with your business?
SIXTY-ONE (!) Cambridge businesses responded to our "100 by 100" Cambridge Business Scholarship Initiative, launched in 2015. We are now in our 2nd year, again awarding 5 scholarships totaling 10,000 to highly talented students with financial need who excel in the STE(A)M disciplines. We’d love any interested businesses to jump in with $100 or more.
Another biggie: It’s our Tenth! We’re celebrating our first 10 years and start of a second decade with a birthday bash/fundraiser hosted by Google on March 30th. We would like any readers of the CCC Newsletter to know that not only are we still accepting sponsorships, with a negotiable starting point of $500.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to show how much you value our talented and diverse student community.
